Home Assistant connection is intermittent: check the documented prerequisites in order, then retry only the affected path.
Start with these checks
Separate the Matter Server, local IPv6 reachability and Thread border-router operation. An intermittent path may reflect network isolation or a border-router problem, not device-type incompatibility. Record which hop fails before changing firmware or resetting a device.
- Check local IPv6 reachability.
- Check mDNS/guest-network isolation.
- Inspect supported installation and diagnostics.
Stop when you find the first unmet requirement. Fix it and try pairing again before changing the next variable.
How to interpret the outcome
Fix local networking before destructive re-pairing.
A failed path does not prove every alternative path is unsupported. For example, a missing direct radio may still leave a separately documented bridge or cloud route.
Avoid these risky shortcuts
- Disable every firewall
- Expose ports publicly
