Add a Matter device to Google Home

Before you begin

• Exact Matter model
• Google Matter controller
• Thread Border Router only for Thread transport
• Supported device type

Confirm the latest app screens with the manufacturer. Menu labels can change. Do not enter a Matter QR or setup code on this site.

Pairing steps

1. Confirm region, firmware and transport.
2. Check local network and Bluetooth permissions on the commissioning phone.
3. Use the current Google Home add-device Matter flow.
4. Scan the private Matter QR or enter its setup code locally.
5. Choose the correct home and room.
6. Test an explicitly supported basic function before enabling automation.

Confirm it worked

• On/off or supported state updates in the target home

Test the particular function you need. A device appearing in the app does not prove that advanced features, automations or remote control are available.

If pairing fails

• Do not reset or publish codes as an initial troubleshooting step.
