Pair a Matter accessory with Apple Home. Check your device generation, platform requirements, network and firmware before you start.
Before you begin
- Compatible iPhone/iPad and OS
- Correct Matter generation
- Manufacturer-specific home-hub requirements
Confirm the latest app screens with the manufacturer. Menu labels can change. Do not enter a Matter QR or setup code on this site.
Pairing steps
- Distinguish Matter from an eight-digit HomeKit code.
- Check whether the intended local, remote or automation use requires a home hub.
- For persistent Thread operation, confirm the supported border-router environment.
- Use Add Accessory in Apple Home and keep the code private.
- For an already paired device, obtain a new sharing code from the existing controller.

Confirm it worked
- Basic accessory control
- Separate verification of notifications and remote access
Test the particular function you need. A device appearing in the app does not prove that advanced features, automations or remote control are available.
If pairing fails
- The iOS local-pairing exception does not override a specific manufacturer requirement or promise remote automation without a hub.
