Bluetooth LE compatibility and setup requirements

Bluetooth LE describes a specific connection layer, not a blanket guarantee that two products will pair.

What it does

A short-range radio often used for Matter commissioning or a vendor-specific connection.

Bluetooth LE can help a phone securely commission a Matter product onto Wi-Fi or Thread. Once commissioning ends, ordinary control may use the new network instead. Check the official product transport field before assuming Bluetooth range limits or offline behavior.

Common mistake

Do not assume

Bluetooth used for setup does not prove ongoing Bluetooth control.

A concrete model example

TP-Link describes Bluetooth on Tapo P125 as an onboarding aid. Its ongoing network link is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so Bluetooth alone does not define the control route.
